Our Dogs Litters Puppies and Available Adults Links About Us Home
I started showing dogs in 1997, my first show dog being my Sloughi bitch. To date, she has been the top BIS winning female in breed history. She is Multi BIS, BIS Veteran, AM, INTL, Veteran and Honor CH Faraasha shi' Rayan CGC. We are quite proud of her. "Kira" is now retired, after sadly becoming blind at a young age due to PRA. The decision not to breed such a beautiful representation of the breed was quite hard, but I was determined to do my part to remove PRA from the breed. Sadly Kira has now left us. She will be sorely missed each and every day.

For a few years I had Bull Terriers, and still co-own my White Danish import, Rollo von Sambuca BT. My kennel name at the time was "Sambuca", and after using the kennel name "Archetype" for a short time with my new breeds, I decided to go back to the name "Sambuca". Sadly the bullies have all gone on to new, loving homes, but I still receive regular updates and photos.

In 2002 I brought home my first Cirneco from kennel "Are But Not" in Norway. Lela has been a great dog, and is a lot of fun to have around. I first met the breed in 1999, at an ARBA dog show in Detroit, but never thought that I would some day have one.

When we decided Lela needed a playmate, I knew it would be a French Bulldog. I had admired the breed for quite some time, after falling in love with the resident cream frenchie at my vets office. We looked for the right breeder for quite a while, and was quite happy when we picked up our Emma from long time French Bulldog breeder, Carmen Janotta of kennel "de Baviere" in Bavaria, Germany.

I currently show with AKC, Rarities, ARBA and IABCA. Occasionally I also show in Germany at FCI shows. If all goes according to plan, I hope to start doing some lure coursing and sprint racing in the future.

I have really enjoyed the Cirnechi. They are a fun breed, and mine seem to really love life. They never meet a stranger, and are always looking for attention.

Recently I have gotten the breed into the AKC FSS program. I look forward to having the chance to show with AKC. It will be a long process, educating the judges about this unique breed, but I look forward to the task.

We have had a few litters here at Sambuca, and I am striving to improve the coat seen in our breed. Currently there are a lot of dogs with very thin coats. In their homeland, the volcanic terrain is rough, and a tough coats is needed to protect their thin skin. Most of my Cirnechi have nice, thick coats, and I hope that I can bring this out in generations to come.

In 2007, we welcomed the smooth Ibizan girl, Serandida Spirt Red Hot, also known as Chili, to our home. Also a wirehair Portuguese Podengo Medio, from Mary Dixon named Maui. Both are sweet girls, and are the best of friends. I do plan to focus on breeding and showing Cirnechi, but it will be fun for me to show and lure course these other breeds as well.

Below you will find information about care and feeding.

Feeding:
I currently feed Science Diet adult. The dogs also get a mixed "treat" of Natural Balance dog food mixed with fatty acid supplement each evening.

They are fed twice a day as adult dogs. They also are fed small amounts of "people food". I feed them bananas, apples, carrots, chicken & beef, as well as yogurt , cottage cheese and rice.

Exercise:
The dogs get plenty of exercise, But I do not let the young ones have quite as much while they are still growing. They all get to go for walks every day, and they get their share of play time as well.

Health:
All my breeding stock is health tested. Each breed has different things to test for. I will not breed any animal that is not in the best health possible. The dogs are vaccinated for rabies, as dictated by Knox County. Puppies are vaccinated at 8 weeks, with boosters at 12 and 16 weeks.

Their teeth are kept clean with routine brushing and an occasional dental cleaning.
